Thinking about early nineties era Liam finding out that Noel likes to fuck men - more precisely getting fucked by men - and getting very confused and then extremey pissed-off. A textbook example of denial expressing itself through exaggerated homophobia. You know the tune. Meanwhile, Noel is actually fairly secure in his sexuality and not amused by Liam's antics.
Liam's then gets it in his head that Noel is going to die of AIDS and becomes paraoid about Noel having it on with guys, to the point where he starts actively cockblocking him. He's got nightmares of Noel dying alone in a hospital, especially after he's watched a late-night documentary of Princess Diana caring for late-stage HIV patients.
The solution comes to a few days later: clearly, the only way to stop Noel from fucking other guys and dying is for Liam to step in. His reasoning is flawless and very logical and not powered in the slightest by his psychosexual obsession with his older brother.
When he presents his conclusion Noel in is usual brand of eloquent diplomacy, Noel does not, to his chagrin, immediately agree. Which means that Liam has to keep bothering him to the point where Noel, knowing that Liam is just being ridiculous, decides the right way to deter him is by taking him up on his word. So he basically tells Liam that if he wants Noel to stop doing it with other men, he'll have to fuck him better than they do.
And you all see how this ends up with service top Liam fucking his brother for the very first time and then pretty much coming the second he's in. Incapable of admitting defeat, Liam grits his teeth (Noel! Dying alone in a hospital! Holding hands with Lady Di!) and stays inside him until he gets hard again and then proceeds to blow Noel's mind.
At which point they both realize that they are now semi-accidentally stuck with an incestuous love story for the ages. At some point, they'll even start kissing. Grudgingly.
(And of course Liam is deeply convinced that only Noel, being the actual poof, would enjoy bottoming, until Noel wins a bet and actually gets Liam acqainted with prostate stimulation, which disturbs Liam to no end and really pisses him off for a couple of weeks - a couple of fistfights included - before he caves and lets Noel fuck him.)
(At some point, roughly at the time they're getting too famous for Noel being openly bi, Liam makes Noel promise that he's not going to fuck other guys but come to Liam if he wants it, to which Noel ultimately agrees [it seems reasonable at that point. Liam's madnes is contagious like that, also drugs]. And Noel keeps that promise even after they stop fucking some time in the naughties. Which, when rumour of Sara's and Noel's separation start making the rounds and Noel is reportedly seen in a gay bar in London, leads to Liam starting to get very, very concerned, and then showing up on Noel's doorstep a few days later equipped with lube and condom in his pockets [and possibly a sex toy to two just to be prepared, yknowwhatImean]. [And, yeah, letting himself be spotted in that bar was totally a calculated move on Noel's part.])
You're welcome.
Now someone go and write that fic for me.

hope yall enjoy <33
heeseung - is always happy to help.
like for example, if he knows you’re tired/had a long day. he literally does it without you saying anything.  you ask him to help with the dishes? the gloves are already on. you asked him to rub your back? suddenly he's a masseur, and you know he never complains ever for you.
jay - gets you ready for events.
he gets so excited when you have a work event because he gets to dress you up!! he picks your outfit for you (if he can go, you guys will match, obvi), he helps style your hair, makes sure you're feeling well, and obviously drives you there! he’ll never admit it, but he loves dressing you up like a cute little doll (in a healthy way).

jake - does some of your assignments for you.
the second he notices you’re having trouble with the amount of assignments you have, he’s ready with a textbook in his hand. sometimes you’re so focused on the textbook you don’t even notice him typing away on your essay. even after you beg him to stop because you feel bad, he continues to type like a fucking mad man until he’s finished.

sunghoon - doing your skincare
when you come home late, he’s always in your shared bed, waiting for you to fall asleep together. but when he notices your slow movements and slumped steps, obviously he’s going to help you take off all your makeup and wash your face (even if you have to guide him).

sunoo - styling your hair for you
whenever you’re about to go out, you have to ask him to style it for you. other than the fact that he’s really good at doing all styles, he also likes playing with your hair since he finds it comforting (so it’s a win win for the both of you guys). but make sure you both don’t get too distracted and stay home!

jungwon - always cleans for you.
let's say you cooked dinner like ONCE, the second you’re done eating, he goes into waiter mode. your plates are picked up, the table is wiped, and the dishes are washed. but as much as you try to fight to help, he never gives in (but maybe, just maybe, he’ll let you thank him with some kisses).

niki - asks how he can help.
niki wants to be as helpful as possible, but he doesn’t know how. so he his solution is to just ask, and he’ll do it. even if it’s just getting you a glass of water or helping you study, he’ll do it in a heartbeat (even if he jokingly complains).

their shoulders were touching as they sat together in transfiguration, looking over the textbook inbetween them whilst mcgonagall explained some elaborate concept. behind them sat sirius and james, who incessantly threw animated pieces of parchment at the pair, making fun of their relationship.
y/n whipped around at them both, scowling, before turning back round and smiling at remus who laughed at his friends and continued to scrawl notes.
"your friends are ridiculous," she giggled quietly, as not to draw the professor's attention.
"they're your friends too," the boy smirked, reaching his hand up and ruffling the hair at the top of her head, to which she pushed his shoulder gently. "perhaps, but they indoctrinated you first," he expression didn't falter with her quip.
"touché."
before they knew it, the bell in the old clocktower rung out through the school and the class was ordered to gather their belongings. remus and y/n had taken their time, ignoring the hollering of their friends and taking their time in one another's company. both slung their book bags on their shoulders.
joyous gasps of laughter filled the atmosphere as they linked hands, swinging them together whilst walking to their next class. she couldn't help herself from cracking cheesy jokes to the boy about anything she saw. the simplicity of it warmed remus' chest, never imagining to feel so much lust toward one singular person.
the two had met in their third year in the library. remus had rushed there after having a fall out with his friends, their discovery of his condition only angering him as they offered pointless sympathy and offers in search of a solution. he had left to the library to find some quiet, and maybe even try to find one of the upcoming required reading books.
though sanctuary was not found in the library as it appeared nearly every other student at the school had decided to utilise the library at that exact same moment. frustratingly, he couldn't find any of the books he had been in search of either, and so he settled for a fictional book written by a wizard who speculated on the lives of muggles. and after settling for the book, the only available seat had been next to a girl he had recognised from his year, though he couldn't recall her name.
hesitantly, he walked over, asking for the seat. and eventually both their books were discarded and they had gotten to quietly talking as to not disturb madame pince, who despite her youth was a very angry lady. they had come to realise they were both very much alike, and hadn't separated since.
it was unimaginable to see how such a fitted match had found one another in their lifetime.

rain pelted down on the awning above the window of the bookshop. the bell to the shop rung out as remus pushed the door open. he wiped his feet on the bristled mat on the floor and shook out his umbrella before placing it on the rack.
y/n, the owner of the bookshop, peaked her head out from around the corner to greet whoever had entered her shop, a friendly smile on her face. although, upon seeing remus, she hesitated. unsure why, she had recognised him from somewhere. though she quickly shook her curiosity away and greeted the familiar man with her best customer service smile.
"it's miserable out, isn't it?" she said as she moved from the back of the shop to behind the register to organise paperwork.
"hm? oh yeah, its horrid outside," the man smiled at her, before resuming his search amongst the shelves. the shopkeeper smiled to herself before looking back to her paperwork. as she worked, remus glanced back toward her, turning to grab the first book he saw and approaching her.
"hey, whatd'ya think of this one?" he held the text up so she could read the title.
"uhmm, from what i can remember, it was a very intriguing read, though it isn't for everyone i'd say," she smiled, her service voice still in full swing, as a clap of thunder sounded shakily outside, the awning aggressively thumping against the window. smiling at her, remus turned the book over so that he could skim the blurb, though he had already read the book before, he wanted it to seem like the information was new to him from her response.
"would you like some tea...." she prompted for his name.
"remus" he smiled.
"would you like some tea, remus?"
Tumblr media
the sound of cars honking along the busy streets of london ricocheted through the office. the clacking of the keyboards blended in with the chatter amongst the space, men in suits leaving meeting rooms as important people to the company made their way in and out of the building.
but, in a quiet corner of the space, remus and y/n sat in adjacent cubicles sending post-it note paper aeroplanes with crude messages on them, looking up from their desks in time to see the reaction has. giggles swarmed the atmosphere as their higher ups walked through the maze of cubicles, passing them both without any idea of what they were doing.
they had seen people be warned in the past, by human resources about what had been labelled as 'office romances' and how it was now considered a case of strictly romeo and juliet. not that either of them were in any sort of position to consider getting into a career jeopardising relationship. they were both in their early twenties, it wasn't a smart move. but they were in their early twenties, so the thrill of having something so hidden was insurmountable.
their dynamic worked. but they were never as secretive as they had thought they were. and naturally everyone in the office knew. at least everyone who didn't have the power to reprimand them.
eventually, remus' lunch break rolled around, being staggered half an hour before y/n and so the girl finally got around to do the work she was being paid to do. her fingers danced across the keys as she typed various statistical sentences and read over reports as footsteps echoing on the carpet approached her.
"y/n!" remus spoke as he adjusted his tie. "hey, rem," she looked up from the screen briefly to smile at the boy, "how was your break?"
"yeah, not bad.... lonely, though," he spoke with a coy smile.
"oh no? was no one else on break at the same time as you?" she questioned, the pause in her work became longer as she looked back to him, resting her chin in her hand.
"they were, but none of them were you," he leant down on the dividers between the offices, a self assured smile now gracing his face. y/n moved her hands to cover her face, "you're so silly, remus," a small laugh left her lips.
"what do you mean?" he stood back up, amusement evident.
"you're just such a flirt, this isn't allowed," she stated plainly, removing her hands from in front of her face and smiling up at him as he just shrugged.
"well, maybe getting in trouble would be worth it,"

Free tactical medicine learning resources
If you want to learn first aid, emergency care or tactical medical care for real, you will need to practice these skills. A lot. Regularly. There’s no way to learn them just from books. But if you’re looking to supplement your training, can’t access hands on training, are a layperson doing research for your writing or otherwise just curious, here are some free resources (some may need a free account to access them).
TCCC
The current gold standard in the field is Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), developed by the US army but used by militaries around the world. There is also a civilian version of the system called Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC). Training materials, Standards of Care, instructional videos, etc. can be accessed at deployedmedicine.com. You’ll need a free account. This should be your first and possibly only stop.
There’s also an app and a podcast if those are more your thing, although I haven’t personally tried them.
More TCCC (video) resources
STOP THE BLEED® Interactive Course
TCCC-MP Guidelines and Curriculum presentations and training videos
EURMED’s Medical Beginner's Resource List has suggested list of video materials (disclaimer: I haven’t watched the playlists, but I have been trained by nearly all of the linked systems/organisations and can vouch for them)
Tactical Medical Solutions training resource page (requires registration; some of the courses are free)
North American Rescue video downloads
Emergency medicine
WHO-ICRC Basic Emergency Care: approach to the acutely ill and injured — an open-access course workbook for basic emergency care with limited resources
Global Health Emergency Medicine — open-access, evidence-based, peer-reviewed emergency medicine modules designed for teachers and learners in low-resource health setting

"For The Children" Is A Puritan Dogwhistle, And It's Time You Stop Pretending People Who Use It Are Acting In Good Faith.
They're not.
Not once, not ever, nor has any policy, political move, bill, terms of service update or edit to an EULA agreement done under this banner been made with good intentions. "For the safety/good of children" is what's commonly referred to as an "Emotional Appeal", a logical fallacy most of you learn about in grade school. Corporations and politicians, at least in America, will happily strip away your autonomy without a second thought while simultaneously ignoring direct and real dangers that many children face literally every single day. They get away with it too, because gaslighting in American politics works.
There's no grand agenda, no chemical in the water nor some mind control via 5g tower by some shady cabal to harm your children.
You know what kids are really dealing with right now?
There's been 64 school shootings in the US so far just in 2024. The number of kids facing food scarcity or only getting a meal at school (often on the free/reduced price tier) has surged since the 2019 lockdowns. More than 1.2 million kids in school right now are homeless. Schools are underfunded by $150 billion annually, meaning kids don't even have access to the resources necessary to receive a quality education.
These are just the causes I can personally think of that we should be investing in "for the children", and yet as literal bodies pile up every year, kids starve and freeze outside in the elements, I've watched our politicians just shrug and say nothing can be done while actively infringing on the privacy and safety of it's citizens.
Instead of doing something about gun control, we've got militarized police in schools and talk of allowing teachers to carry firearms. Instead of taking my tax money and at least feeding the kids, I've watched them be fed stuff so lacking in nutritional value it might as well be dirt. I've seen politicians move to keep the holocaust out of textbooks and reduce the horrors of war to a few paragraphs-always with this country as the winners, the good guys, the MCU equivalent of the avengers coming to save the day. Don't even get me started on housing those homeless children. If the US doesn't care about kids being shot to death, it sure as hell doesn't care about giving them adequate shelter.
I'm not so dumb as to assume there's a single solution or a single cause to any of this, but I'm also not ignorant to the fact that every single fucking time I've heard "for the safety of kids" or "for the good of the children" used by someone, they're about to do something fucking hideous to all of us and get away with it. They're about to rob you of your rights, your humanity, your name and culture if they think they can. And they're gonna get away with it too, because what kind of monster would ever argue against the safety of kids?
"For the children" is a conservative dog whistle. It always has been, it always will be, and every time you see it used it's time to start harassing the shit out of the people saying it by asking them what they're legitimately, actually, factually doing for kids. Because there's a damn good chance their entire argument is built on a throne of corpses.

Hot Take Time
Okay, I'm gonna make a hot take. I want y'all to understand that this is coming from a 34 year old man who draws furry porn for a living and has regularly interacted with well over a thousand customers in his life, as well as partaken in various online discussions, social media platform conversations, and I've been pseudo-canceled a few times, so there you go, now we know each other, run on sentence.
I need to get something off my chest and a lot of you (I'd very safely say over 95% of social media and people in the political system and even regular media) need to get this through your heads.
Here we go, ready? Say this out loud.
"Nobody is responsible for making you feel comfortable, except yourself."
That is something that people just don't seem to understand anymore. We're in this day-and-age of people doing everything in their power to convince other people to change how they act, change what they believe, change the words they can or can't use because they are "not comfortable" and they believe it will make the world a "better place" if other people adhere to a set of guidelines that these people have deemed are necessary for the comfort of the people setting the guidelines (at the expense, of course, of the comfort of the others who are being forced to walk on eggshells).
I don't know how so few of you have a basic moral of "Life isn't fair."
It isn't. Perfection is unattainable, and yet so many of you don't fucking shut the fuck up about how everyone "needs to act" or how other people need to "be better."
Shut the goddamn fuck up, holy shit.
Nobody needs to act different so that you can be comfortable, just fucking grow a spine, holy shit. I don't care WHAT they're doing. I don't care if they're transphobic, racist, sexist, misogynistic, LGBT activists, Trump supporters, Biden supporters, I literally do not give the slightest iota of a fuck. Do they make me uncomfortable? Of course they do. That's why I don't interact with them. For my own comfort I just don't. I do what makes me comfy, I eat pizza, I drink hot cocoa, I take a fucking nap, I take some painkillers for my joint pain, I do a weed gummy, I listen to music, I watch a movie, I sit outside and watch rain fall, I FUCKING RELAX.
I have rheumatoid arthritis and am in excruciating pain 24/7/365 and there is nothing I will ever be able to do about that. Do I complain about it? Sure I do. Do I appreciate it when people carry heavy things for me so I don't have to? Sure I do.
But do I stand there next to a heavy box waiting for someone else to pick it up and then go "EXCUSE ME. I HAVE ARTHRITIS. YOU SHOULD PICK THE BOX UP FOR ME. I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO TELL YOU TO PICK THE BOX UP" because I'm of some fucking delusion that everyone on earth has to cater to my disability?
FUCKING. NO.
You know why? Because I, unlike a fucking huge percentage of you all, understand that it is not everyone else's responsibility to cater to me and improve my level of comfort.
Especially if they're not getting paid to do that. If I were paying them, sure, that'd be fine. That's what maids are for, right? But they're not getting paid, and that's where it becomes a very bad thing.
Slavery.
But apparently y'all don't seem to understand that making people do special services or cater their behavior to you without any payment other than "not getting punished, canceled, attacked physically or screamed at" is literally textbook definition slavery. It is quite literally "Do this thing because I demanded it, and if you don't do it or if you do it in an unsatisfactory way, I will whip you."
Let's look at a hypothetical I made up myself.
Say there's a kid in school who, if they hear their name said out loud, attacks and bites the people who said that. There's been 15 incidents in a row, including two teachers being bit by this kid.
What's the solution?
Solution 1) Pull the kid out of school, contact their parents, suggest maybe therapy or putting them in special classes with a guardian of some sort, keep an eye on them, maybe they need to be medicated.
Solution 2) Tell the entire population of the school to stop saying the kid's name out loud and punish any kids who get bit because they broke the rule of catering to this psycho fucking bully.
How in the fuck do so many of you think Solution 2 is the correct solution? How the fuck do you think forcing 8 billion people to adhere to your specific demands via mass manipulation and forced control without any compensation other than "I won't bite you" is the correct course of action?
I have met people that literally their opening sentence is telling me how to talk to them and what things not to talk about around them, and when I asked "Why can't I talk about <completely mundane thing>" they literally had a fucking mental breakdown and got me banned from the Discord server I was in that they contacted me from.
And so many of you, SO MANY OF YOU will act like that's completely reasonable for them to have done and will say I AM THE BAD GUY for "DELIBERATELY ATTACKING THEM WHEN THEY ASKED ME NOT TO."
Holy fucking shit.
If you are so fucking bad off, so unhinged, that you have complete full fledged mental breakdowns over hearing a fucking word or because you scrolled past a text post you disagreed with or because someone voted for a politician you don't like, I'm sorry to say this but you desperately need to get your fucking head checked because that is NOT. FUCKING. NORMAL. BEHAVIOR.
"But Jay, being 'normal' is a social construct that-" SHUT UP.
Care for your own self, improve your own comfort and be happy with "Good enough" like the rest of the fucking world has been learning to do for fucking years, you actual fucking sociopathic manipulative shitfucks.
Thank you for reading.
~Jay (who has been labeled a transphobe for breaking up with a trans girlfriend after 9 years of her lying to him, manipulating him, forcing him to become trans out of emotional abuse, forcing him to attack his own mother, forcing him to pay for her HRT for multiple years and forcing him to be in a poly relationship while not letting him meet the other girlfriends she was fucking regularly while never meeting him IRL a single time. Yeah guess I shoulda stayed with her, I'm the bad guy for not continuing to let her abuse me because her abusing me was "making her more comfortable in the relationship." Listen. I hate to break this to you. But if you act like this, or defend these people, you are a fucking psychopath and I no longer give a shit what you think about me. You are a bad person.)
PS: I usually get people asking, when I make posts like this, "Jay, did something happen?" because y'all assume every time I wanna make a post like this, I just got out of a fight with someone and needed to vent. The truth this time is that this has been boiling up for the last 12 years I've been here on Tumblr, seeing more and more and more of this fucking manipulative sociopath behavior becoming more and more commonplace and accepted and more and more people are scared to speak out against it because if just one of you fucking psychos can damage our reputation and get us fired from our workspace, imagine what thousands of you could do. Well, I'm done catering to y'all. If you are my friend, I will gladly act a certain way around you to make you comfy because I always strive to make my friends, family members, ect. as comfortable as possible.
But if I haven't met you and I'm expected to cater to your comfort zone's rules before even saying hi to you? I'm just noping the fuck out of there because you are a sick, twisted pervert with a fucking power fetish who is blind to how much of a manipulative shitwad you are.
PPS: I know, the assumption here is "Jay's gonna start saying the gamer word to poke the beehive now! He's looking for a fight!"
No, I literally am not. Why would I? I'm trying to live and be comfortable why the shit would I go out of my way to rile the psychos up? I'm gonna just hang out with my friends and family and fans who love me and continue being a respectful person towards people who are respectful in return, rather than go out of my way to find horrible scumbag people and attack them deliberately because I wanna start a fight or some shit. Why would I wanna be in a fight? Why would I wanna deliberately troll or rile people up? That makes me feel bad. I was yelled at and beat by my father for 25 years why would I go try to get myself yelled at more? So take off the tinfoil hat, stop assuming I'm announcing I'm gonna be more openly disrespectful on purpose. I'm a respectful person, I don't attack people, I don't troll people, I don't do anything to deliberately harm anyone.
So I ask you very politely.
If anything you read here today has tarnished your opinion of me?
Please just block me and move on, holy shit. Do the right thing, make yourself more comfortable, stop interacting. Don't waste your time trying to "get through to me" just leave, it's not worth either of our time. Do that with everyone you strongly disagree with. If someone offends you so much you're shitting blood just block them. Why the fuck y'all gotta keep putting your heads in sharks' mouths and then complaining they keep bitin' you.

🧸, 🦢 and 🪽 for the selfship ask game !!!
🧸: how would your f/o try to comfort you if you were upset?
🧸: How he comforts me when I’m upset is usually rubbing my arm with his fingertips in a loose cuddle position. Sometimes he says comforting words in his logical brain, to find a solution to the problem but he knows that some days I just need to sit in silence and ground myself. When we’re in public though, he’ll tend to give me a task to distract myself from whatever is upsetting me or he will remove me from the situation until a resolve comes up 💙
🦢: what’s a petty argument you’d have with your f/o
🦢: Oh BOY. Well he likes to keep things organized and more neat in a way he knows he’s set up. For example a bookshelf with medical textbooks in order of importance for him. I tend to put them back in a rushed way, no books were damaged! But I definitely do not follow his organization style unless I stop to think about it 😅 it’s a petty argument we have sometimes of him getting a bit irritated on having to move a book or two back to where he likes it.
🪽: what was your first kiss like with your f/o?
🪽: First kiss with Law was very intense!! It was a build up of emotion and high tension throughout our relationship! 💙 he isn’t one for physical touch most of the time unless necessary (he’s more of a quality time and acts of service lover) so when the first kiss happened it was after his close to death experience with Doflamingo. It was high tension, I was a mess thinking he was going to die in battle for his revenge. It was passionate, a bit messy in coordination and I was the one who made the first move for it 💙
Sending you and Luffy good vibes ✨

— dr. felix arturo estrada.
Tumblr media
nicknames : duck / fefe ( odette ) + asshole ( anyone who knows about afterglow ) birthdate & age : september 19th ( 47 ) gender : cis man ( he / him ) orientation : aromantic demisexual faction : afterglow research solutions occupation : chief medical officer location : afterglow compound strengths : observant + intelligent + organized + meticulous + adept weaknesses : manipulative + deceitful + cruel + duplicitous + selfish
Tumblr media
biography.
TW : animal abuse / child death / injury / death  / torture mention
➥ born to a pair of afterglow scientists who re-emerged from the vaults decades after the nuclear strike to aid in the efforts of re-establishing afterglow research solutions above ground, felix estrada was destined to have an inquisitive and analytical mind. socially estranged in his youth, he pored over textbooks and medical resources from the old world and the new, biding his time by absorbing as much information as he could. this was where his love of experimentation began — as a child, he was fascinated with the concept of physiology and understanding how the body worked. this manifested in tests on what rare, unsuspecting wildlife and pests he could find in the streets of lost angeles; feeding them various chemicals and pharmaceuticals — whatever he could get his hands on, really — a young felix would meticulously document their responses, often performing thorough autopsies on their cadavers if they were fatally poisoned. he saw nothing wrong with this behavior and felt no remorse, but he also knew well enough to keep it secret.
➥ through the privilege of familial connection, felix was offered the opportunity to pursue higher education in the field of medicine through afterglow research solutions and their training facilities. his logical mind and innate lack of bedside manner — and distinct disinterest in the development of one — meant that he favored pharmaceutical research over clinical practice and quickly found his place in afterglow laboratories. and make no mistake, there was no nepotism involved in his rapid promotion through the hierarchy of the medical department; felix began as a simple research aide and through years of hard work and exceptional performance, felix was able to secure his position as chief medical officer by the time he was thirty-two.
➥ though he is hardly a romantic in any conventional sense, a desire to abide by the wishes of afterglow meant that felix sought to establish a family, and by the time he’d reached cmo status, he’d already married an afterglow engineer by the name of saiya jain. that same year, he and saiya welcomed a daughter, odoti lucia estrada. felix never considered himself a nurturing man, but odoti taught him what it meant to be gentle, what it felt like to love something unconditionally. he tried to foster the same love of science and mutation in odoti, and as she grew older, he’d often take her out to the old test sites he used to explore as a child in search of strange plants and creatures they could study together.
➥ on their very last trip, a seven-year-old odoti ran ahead of him and straight into the den of a creature felix had only ever believed to be urban legend — the death knell bear. he can still hear her screams, the way they were echoed back at him from the bear’s bloody, gurgling maw. he doesn’t know how he escaped, and most days, he wishes he hadn’t. he was seriously injured but the pain, however excruciating, never felt like repentance enough for such a grave mistake. saiya never forgave him. he’s not even sure if she believed him, but he knows with certainty that she blamed him. rightfully so, he supposes. after odoti’s service, saiya left the compound and never returned. he suspects she’d grown tired of his idiosyncrasies years earlier and only ever stayed for their daughter.
➥ the hole in his cold heart that was left by the loss of his daughter could never truly be filled, but it was mended in the form of an afterglow test subject. odette. even just its name was a reminder of what he’d lost and yet, its presence somehow seemed to ease the ache of his grief. he could only imagine what the mindless bastards within the military branch did to its mind, its body and spirit, but by the time it found its way into his laboratory, his only focus was on learning it, understanding it. fixing it. he made habitual work of picking it apart and putting it back together, all done with as gentle a hand as he would’ve used with odoti.
➥ they grew impossibly close — close enough that, when odette stabbed him in the chest after eliminating an east atlantic soldier in his office in a sudden lapse of judgment and reason, he did not hesitate to prevent the remaining men from killing it on the spot, defending it even as its knife protruded from his chest. it was institutionalized for this attack — it was dr. estrada’s professional opinion that it was spurred by a combination of ptsd as a result of mistreatment from afterglow soldiers and radiation poisoning, and no fault of its own — but returned to his care upon release where he continues to treat it in the hope of one day truly fixing it.
➥ currently, dr. estrada remains at the afterglow compound where he can easily oversee clinical and research operations and align medical strategies with organizational goals while also managing the facility’s staff and resources. residing at the compound also allows him the privilege of unhindered access to all of the pharmaceuticals and equipment necessary to manage his own conditions. he still uses additionally, this unrestricted access allows him the opportunity to perform his own private research on hand-selected test subjects, most of which is done behind the locked doors of a secure and soundproofed laboratory. the results of these experiments are, as of yet, strictly confidential.
Tumblr media
headcanons.
➥ felix has an artificial lung and an artificial knee courtesy of afterglow research solutions. unlike his daughter, he did not lose his life when the deathknell bear attacked, but his patella was ripped clean off when the animal grabbed him by the leg and even after the knee replacement and several years later, felix still walks with a cane. the artificial lung was as a result of an injury sustained by test subject odette winters.
➥ he performs private experiments on test subjects for afterglow research solutions; the findings of these studies are often not published for public reference as they have been known to feature questionable ethical decisions and occasional disregard for basic human rights. if you are selected for a private study with dr. estrada, perhaps it might be wise to start counting your days — they are numbered, after all.
Tumblr media
wanted connections.
➥ test subjects : folks that he has had the opportunity to test afterglow pharmaceuticals and treatments on, both on record and behind closed doors
➥ enemies within afterglow : either people who knew his wife and sided with her or people who just don’t trust his motivations and suspect nefarious activity

Okay so I'm going to say something, because I'm done keeping it inside.
This is based on my own personal experience as a woman who was raised in a borderline cult. AKA: true Bible Belt, Evangelical, fundamentalist Christianity.
I keep seeing phrases like "Zionism only means the establishment of a basis for a Jewish homeland, nothing more" and while it SHOULD be that way, in the United States, Zionism gets a lot darker than the textbook definition. Evangelical Zionists (hello? Like 90% of conservative politicians) are literally obsessed with the idea of this "Holy War" going on in the Middle East. They think it's the first phase of Armageddon.
I am not exaggerating, this is extremely serious.
I come from a fundamentalist church that prayed for Israel every service, and on October 7 I was filled with dread because I knew some Evangelical leaders would rejoice in this moment in history.
They think this is a prophecy heralding the end times, and they are extremely serious about it.
And the greatest irony is that based on Evangelical Zionist principles, they're antisemitic. They pretend to care about Jewish people, but they think that Judaism is just as outdated and "false" as Islam and even Catholicism for fuck's sake. They don't support Jewish people OR Israel. They support the destruction of the entire world to justify the "rapture/tribulation", and this is Phase #1 in their twisted, Kool-Aid-soaked heads.
I'll let Sarah Posner with MSNBC say the words:
Tumblr media
(Source is linked below)
I cannot stress enough how seriously I'm saying this because it looks like 4Chan bullshit when I read it back, but Evangelical Zionists in the USA are not supporting Israel. They want every non-Christian to be struck down with hellfire, and this is a reality to them. You can comment to say "well that's just your specific experience etc" but the fact that I HAVE this experience? Means that there is a very real and unprecedented amount of fundamentalist Christians CHEERING ON a genocide in 2023. I can see the rhetoric, the propaganda, and the cult programming happening right now, because I got out.
These people are actively participating in mass murder because they want non-Christians to be decimated. It's pretty Aryan if I can be bold. It's insane. And to them, It's real.
My heart goes out to all my Jewish and Muslim friends during this difficult time. I don't have any solutions, all I can do is spread awareness about this cult-like, insidious behavior happening in the open in Evangelist American churches everywhere.
I wish I could say this isn't the thought process of thousands of Americans but at the end of the day, their ideology is rooted in bigotry and hatred.

I think that the reason why i’m attached to pathologic, especially daniil as a character, is because i’m disabled and chronically ill, so i’ve had a huge fear of doctors for literally my whole life. like. it seems backwards but really.
(slight cw for doctors and disabilities, a bit of a rant. you don’t have to answer this ask or anything if you’re not in the headspace to answer!! take care of yourself!!)
I see my own pain and fatigue both in the sand pest victims and also in the healers play-throughs, especially dankovsky because basically everything goes wrong for him or actively works against him to make things worse. playing as daniil and getting to be a know-it-all doctor (someone I would have been especially anxious around in the real world) but seeing his character put so much effort and care in to healing people who are sick really resonates with me and helped me be less anxious around some doctors (it’s still a deep fear, but we’re getting better haha).
like. in the marble nest he even speaks gently to the children, iirc.
his whole storyline also really helped me cope with spending so much of my life in a medical setting. hospitals make me extremely anxious, so instead I get to distract myself with this complex story and lore to make weekly appointments a bit less scary. when my symptoms are dismissed or when doctors are rude to me, I pretend that i’ll have one last imaginary appointment with a certain knowledgeable out-of-town doctor that recalls reading about a cure for my oddly specific symptoms. wow. almost like it’s a real illness! /s
I pretend that he’s a part of my medical team and doesn’t hold back when defending me against other “professionals” who don’t care enough to try or don’t believe me because “i’m too young to be disabled”. I imagine him snapping back at a doctor I had who said that my makeup made my face look wonky and weird. I imagine him giving me a pep talk before meetings with medical teams.
I appreciate how determined dankovsky is. nothing goes unnoticed. no data goes missing. he actually cares and wants to see a problem solved or at least remedied as much as possible. no stone goes unturned when it comes to pain relief.
to him, if a patient is still in pain after treatment, he needs to find a different diagnosis because clearly the treatment didn’t work earlier. no, the patient isn’t faking it. if they’re faking it, why does the pain look so real?
his own fight against death in the game even paralleled an experience I had at the time I really got into the game. my dog had passed away and he was like a service dog to me, it was the first real loss I had ever experienced and having a character mirror my emotions when dealing with death had really helped me cope and come to terms with it all. especially the marble nest storyline, when the fight against death was even more visually personified through the executors.
this character means so much to me. I find so much comfort in playing pretend with the prickly prick who is actually a really nice and caring doctor. and the imaginary/pretend doll games are ironic because of the “game of dolls” metaphor in patho classic.
when i’m having a flare up or panic attack, I just imagine that he’s sitting at my bedside, diligently taking notes on what i’m feeling, distracting me from my anxieties by teaching me a latin phrase or by telling stories, mumbling along as he reads from textbooks pulled down from shelves with information on my illnesses. it’s comforting to pretend that someone cares so much about my health that they would put a great amount of effort in to finding other solutions, even after multiple tries. it’s nice to imagine that someone is holding my hand and talking me through the process of what’s happening when I have a procedure. I like to pretend that someone is here with me to keep me company when I can’t move, or to notice my balance shaking when I might pass out, to carry me to a couch or bed before I faint, to have someone help me administer my medications and remember the correct doses and times to take them them.
most of all I like pretending that daniil is here with me to stay by my side and promise me that he’ll take the pain away. and daniil dankovsky is always a man of his word.
I know it’s all just wishful thinking, but I like that I can run back to an imaginary doctor who can heal any pain (or at least can lessen it, even temporarily). I like coping with life alongside daniil, I get to make sense of death through his experiences as well as mine.
there’s a lot of value in the x reader genre even though some people think it’s cringe or weird. this genre is what got me through more than five years of debilitating pain and fatigue. cringe is a made up concept lmao. your writing and the writing of others has helped me a lot, and i’m sure that many other people can say the same.
i’m so sorry for the long message! again, u don’t have to answer it or post it or anything if it’s too much bc I completely understand!! I just wanted to share some personal anecdotes about why I love patho and daniil and all that.
with lots of love, -🥀
You've explained it beautifully
Because Daniil really would! That's the thing, he never became a doctor for the money or prestigious, he truly was in it for the science, for healing people and making humanity better as a whole.
He founded Thanatica, he paved his own path in thanatology, weaved his own branch of research. Daniil wanted to cure humanity of death, All Death, indefinitely.
It's like someone being courages enough to fight the dragon head on, cut the problem from its source and put an end to this prolonged song and dance.
Stop borrowing time from death, coaxing it back and pretending that this is okay. that it's natural and can't be helped, that this is simply the cycle of life.
Much like our ancestors thought the sun was pulled by a chariot, Daniil is determined to make the view on death hold a similar notion to the future generations.
To unveil the monster and force everyone to look it in the eyes, to realise it was never invulnerable, that it too can be tamed much like the rest of nature.
The scientific method pure and simple, he took it to heart. He doesn't presume nor intuition his way into a cure, he works by solid facts, plausible theories and educated predictions.
He stays well informed no matter how ego bruising it is to constantly having to learn new things, knowledge is worth the price of staying humble for.
The man is the embodiment of pride yet he'll kneel and admit he is wrong for the chance to gather more knowledge and make things right, he doesn't care what it takes, he will get results.
All those traits are what make the ideal doctor, someone reliable you can trust to want to help you, someone who is clearly fighting by your side to make you feel better rather than simply arguing against you to prove nothing is wrong.
He wants to turn a novel concept into reality, the same way a child desperately wants the world to be fair, for justice and truth to prevail.
Dankovsky kept that side of him alive, carefully maintained that way of thinking, and didn't allow the cruel world to demean this naivety.
Until he was older, stronger, and very capable of following his words with actions. The respect granted to someone of his status and age forces the people around him to listen to his notions and take them seriously, it forces them to come to terms with their own ignorance.
He held the right ideas all along, but people care more for who's speaking than the word themselves.
You understand him, you truly do.
Because he will not rest until he gets to the bottom of a problem, until the last piece of the puzzle falls into place.
Oh, it becomes personal when he is faced with an anomaly of an illness. When the symptoms are there but the tests results claim negative, it means he needs to approach this differently and test for other things rather than throw the towel in like unreliable doctors who claim the paitent is just making things up.
In one of the P2 bachelor route posts, the devs mentioned a mechanic where Daniil breaks into a paitents' houses. As a routine everyday thing because he isn't satisfied with the limited tests and wants to gather more evidence or clues to figure out what ails them.
-
The fantasies that you described about him are the exact scenes I envision while writing him.
The sound of his fountain pen tapping and scratching against the paper, the clickly turn of the microscope wheel as he peers into the tissue sample below, the focused look on his face as he notes down every detail.
How cluttered his desk in the stillwaters is, how messy his room is in contrast to all the trouble he goes through to make himself look collected and pristine. Much like how messy his brain is inside in contrast to tidy shell and elegant clothes.
Daniil isn't masquerading as something he is not, he isn't adoring a posh facade, despite it all he still acts surprisingly down to earth. He tells Artemy to not worry about watching his language around him, he swears and he makes sarcastic lame jokes.
Daniil would rather join you on the floor without care for his clothes getting dirty if it meant you'll keep him company while sorts through the mess that is his bag, maybe tinker with the lense of his plague finder gear.
There is a sense of belonging with him, a sense of ease and comradery because you know that man will stop at nothing to help you.
Doesn't he volunteer himself countless times to do the bidding of others he deems more vulnerable than him? Without looking for a reward or anything, even when they're simply strangers.
Doesn't he subject himself to take the "test" pills rather than three clearly distraught women who were desperate to help in any way just because his conscience wouldn't allow him to stand by while someone suffers.
Even a snake's venom can be used to make medicine, even sharp fangs can be repurposed into thin fine needles that seamlessly pass through the skin without a hint of pain.
For someone like him to be good at heart, genuinely good at heart. He isn't looking for recognition or taking advantage of an opportunity to raise above despite what the initial impression of him make you think, he is the most determined and the most caring of all the healers.
He is the one outsider in this town, keep that in mind and yet he still cares so much about everything all the time. At least Artemy and Clara had stakes in the game, Daniil's risking his life for strangers and a town that insists on making his life a living hell, everyone mistrusts him or tries to use him to climb the social ladder or accumulate more power.
He was the only one truly looking to make a change.
Which is why it's so fitting to imagine him defending your case against all the doctors who aren't in medical care for the right reasons, who grew too jaded and overconfident, whose brains slowed down and grew stubborn and set in their ways.
If the Bachelor gives a wrong diagnosis, he'll march directly to your doorstep the next day in the middle of the night and demand another chance, taking full accountability for his mistake and asking to try again.
I know it's just filler sentences, but in P1, there are these lines the other healers' bounds say to you to singal the conversation won't progress more or that their role in your story is done.
For Daniil, when he keeps attempting to talk to the termites, they tell him they feel a headache coming in. And you know what he tells them? He takes their words seriously and advices them to eat quince, a fruit, natural remedy for headaches.
For example, Eva would tell Artemy she's waiting to meet someone, and he can say, "I think I know who," and it loops the more you try to talk to her.
He could've easily dismissed them or been like "You're too young to know what real headaches are" Hell he could've went the skeptical grown up route and just assumed the kids are trying to swindle painkillers from him.
But he doesn't, he never does. And that line is especially sweet and thoughtful when it comes after a bitter conversation or an argument with a rude child. That yes despite the person being a little shit, Daniil still doesn't want the kid to suffer in pain and gives them a free medical consolation, an advice to keep for future reference to ease their headaches.
He tries to heal, in every person he comes across he tries to rid them of pain and absorb it himself. In every place he goes he actually tries to leave it better than he found it.
A lot of Bachelor route quests start from you offering your direct help to someone, not the other way around where people ask you or demand you to help them.
It's you who volunteers each time! Daniil takes full agency in his actions, he is so nosy and involves himself in every problem if it means he can solve it.
I'm a person that faints a lot from seemingly nothing. Yesterday, I fainted twice and had to stay in bed because the light-headedness never went away. I can barely go places because I know I will faint and will need to urgently go home, showering by itself is a huge chore and I have to cut it into separate parts and take breaks because I feel my vision disappearing after like 5 minutes under the water.
Someone like Daniil would definitely help, even stay beside me in the bathroom while I shower just to keep an eye on my state, to pay attention to the symptoms when my hands start to shake and I blank at the wall and help me out and back into the bed instead of just dismising them and urging me to push through until I faint like the other doctors.
He wouldn't view nudity as sexaul at all. He wouldn't be timid or skittish when it comes to the human body.
Nothing deters his determination, and he will feel insulted if you assumed he'd be disgusted by anything natural.
There's beauty in someone putting effort into redundant mundane acts, that Daniil would carefully measure the liquid inside the needle and tap the air bubbles out each time with deliberate care before administrating it.
He never thinks these tasks are beneath him. He abhors doctors who look down on nurses or refuse to do "nurse tasks"
And it's poetic in a way, that even as a character, as a doll, a fictional concept, he is still helping being indirectly. It's truly the most Daniil trait of all things that his mere existence as a fantasy doctor actually heals and mends. He'd be immensely astonished by that notion, all the people which he granted a small relief, which he encouraged to keep going just by being himself.
-
I'm very honoured you entrusted me with this rose anon, it takes effort and courage to put yourself out there, to have faith in a stranger and share your experience and feelings with them.
I relate to your words a lot, I saw myself in between the lines. I imagine certian characters too helping me through rough days, sticking by my side through thick and thin.
Mostly Georgiy Kain these days because I feel like he'd be the only one who understands my thought process. It feels hard describing my art, even harder trying to explain scientific concepts I'm passionate about.
I tried to do that the other day, showing a person what absolutely mindblowing it is that we can predict higher dimensions if we use the second and third dimensions interactions as a frame of reference.
You can accurately guess what a 4D cube would look like just by looking at the process of 2D Square being turned into a 3D cube!
And I mean you, anyone! without the use of the Internet and without the need for any equations or mathematics knowledge. It's basic logic, and you only need your eyes, a paper, and a pen.
Actually the less you know about math the easier it will be; it's one of those situations where you need to unlearn certain things they taught you in school in order to comprehend it.
You need to forgo the status que, to forget the basics and the "obvious" You need to take the reigns back from auto pilot and force your brain to actually think, genuinely think about why and how a square is turned into a cube rather than just retrieve memorised information from your 4th grade teacher showing your class how to draw a 3D cube on the chalk board.
And I'm so passionate about these things! About general relatively and seemingly complex mathematics that are actually so so simple and obvious but the education system and first impressions completely altered people's views on these things.
I used to do it so much as a kid, excitedly explain the mechanics behind black holes and their formation, predictably the adults only chuckled and cooed condescendingly.
And now that I'm an adult and can be taken seriously, I try to share it with other adults only to find out NO ONE WANTS TO USE THEIR BRAIN. Everyone is happy just living life as it is and my thrist for knowledge is a one man journey.
It's disheartening really, i genuinely love these topics and I'm passionate about them. That's why I feel like someone like the Judge would actually get it! He would listen to me talk throughly, he would share his knowledge with me!
I used to have similar ideals about defeating death and achieveing immortality in my early teen years, actually unironicly had them and wanted to get into med school for it. I also wanted to get into genetic engineering to give humans wings.
No one took it seriously and unlike Daniil I wasn't strong enough to keep that fire going, my flickering candle got sqaushed by life alongside my hopes and dreams long ago.
That's probably why a lot of us relate to him and find comfort in him, in the man who beat the odds and didn't back down from life.
You learn about being cringe the hard way, about fitting in and other people's perceptions the hard way. You give up parts of yourself in order to be loved and find a community, it's wired into our brains.
It takes an active choice to go against your biology and all the warning sirens firing off that you're straying from the herd, crossing into dangerous territory, that deep down we are a social tribe, mammals who seek acceptance and validation from each other.
And Daniil did that choice. We only get to see the fruits of his labour, not the years of ridicule he endured during med school, not the way others must have antagonised him for daring to be different and hold strong opinions, not the many mountians he had to climb and hardships he had to overcome in order to even survive through teenagehood and actually get accepted into med school.
The man founded Thanatica, he created it into existence through blood and tears, he has earned every right to act a little proud and keep repeating the "Bachelor of medicine" title after every introduction after all that he had to go through to earn it.
It's so easy to dismiss him as self-centred and arrogant rather than determined and proud.
Only through seeing the world from his eyes and walking in his own shoes do you get why he did everything he did, you find no malice in his inner thoughts, you realise he has been truthful to you this whole time.
-
Please don't apologise for the long asks, I really appreciate them.
It's good to receive someone's articulated thoughts and have the chance to reply back with a long message of my own, it feels as intimate as a receiving and sending a letter back before the industrial revolution.
If it does take me a long time to reply, I do apologise. I answer the most recent asks when it's convenient for my schedule and by the time I get to the second most recent ask, a new one or three get sent in and the other asks get buried even deeper down.
I will get to answering them all eventually, I promise.
One thing tho, I do read them all, even ones I know I won't be able to answer rn. I check my inbox daily and read as much as I can. I mull over what to reply back with throughout the day and decide to get to writing it during the night.
I enjoyed this lovely conversation! Please do take care of yourself in this heat, make sure to drink plenty of water, I emptied like 4 bags of ice to make nice cold soda drinks with ah- I hope your day is amazing.

USPS Media Mail Guide: Shipping Educational Materials at Lower Costs
When it comes to shipping educational materials, textbooks, and other printed media, finding a cost-effective option is crucial. USPS Media Mail is an ideal solution for sending such items without breaking the bank. In this comprehensive guide, we’ll explore what USPS Media Mail is, its benefits, how to use it effectively, and important considerations to keep in mind.
Tumblr media
What is USPS Media Mail?
USPS Media Mail is a specialized postal service designed specifically for sending educational materials and media at reduced rates. This service is offered by the United States Postal Service (USPS) and is particularly beneficial for shipping books, manuscripts, CDs, DVDs, and other educational materials. It provides a cost-effective alternative to standard shipping methods.
Benefits of Using USPS Media Mail
Cost Savings: Media Mail is significantly cheaper than other USPS services like Priority Mail or First-Class Mail. This makes it an excellent choice for bulk shipments or for businesses looking to reduce shipping costs.
Tracking and Delivery Confirmation: While Media Mail is an economical choice, it doesn’t skimp on essential features. USPS provides tracking and delivery confirmation options, ensuring you can monitor your shipment's progress from start to finish.
No Weight Limits: Unlike some shipping methods, Media Mail has no weight limit, which means you can send large quantities of educational materials without worrying about extra charges.
Eligibility Requirements
To qualify for Media Mail rates, your shipment must meet specific criteria:
Content Restrictions: Media Mail can only be used for shipping educational materials such as books, manuscripts, sound recordings, and films. The content must be educational or informational. Items like advertisements, catalogs, and promotional material do not qualify.
Packaging Requirements: Ensure that your items are properly packaged. Media Mail packages should be securely wrapped to prevent damage during transit. It’s also important to label your shipment accurately to avoid delays or additional charges.
How to Use USPS Media Mail
Prepare Your Package: Start by securely packaging your items. Make sure the package is well-sealed and durable enough to withstand handling during transit. Use sturdy boxes or padded envelopes as needed.
Labeling: Clearly label your package with the recipient’s address and your return address. USPS Media Mail requires a specific address label and postage. You can print these labels using the USPS website or at your local post office.
Postage: Calculate the postage required for your shipment based on its weight and dimensions. USPS provides an online postage calculator to help you determine the correct postage amount.
Drop-off or Pickup: You can drop off your Media Mail packages at any USPS location. Alternatively, you can schedule a pickup if you have multiple packages or prefer the convenience of having your mail collected from your location.
Important Considerations
Delivery Time: Media Mail is a cost-effective option, but it can be slower compared to other shipping methods. Delivery times may vary based on the distance and volume of mail being processed. On average, Media Mail delivery takes 2 to 8 days.
Restricted Items: Ensure that your shipment meets all eligibility criteria for Media Mail. Items that do not qualify may incur additional charges or be returned to the sender.
Insurance and Tracking: While Media Mail includes tracking, you may want to consider additional insurance for valuable or fragile items. USPS offers insurance options that can be added to your Media Mail shipment for added peace of mind.
Conclusion
USPS Media Mail is a fantastic option for shipping educational materials and media at a lower cost. Its affordability, combined with reliable tracking and delivery confirmation, makes it an attractive choice for both individuals and businesses. By understanding the eligibility requirements, preparing your packages correctly, and considering important factors like delivery time and restricted items, you can make the most of this cost-effective shipping solution. For further information or assistance, visit the USPS website or contact your local post office.
